Upon graduation from CU Boulder, John served with the Bureau of Reclamation in Denver, Colorado for two years before joining the private consulting firm of Towner, Lopez & Partners in 1979. Since his parting with Towner, Lopez & Partners in 1982, John has directed the development of the present organization, Gebau, Inc. John has obtained additional postgraduate education in Finite Element Analysis and Analysis of Plates and Shells. John's engineering experience is in single and multi-family residential construction, mixed use, institutional, historic preservation, commercial and industrial use structures, along with specialty structures including: tank, landscape structures, light poles, etc. In addition, John has participated in the design of extraordinary foundation structures such as post tensioned slab on grade and raft foundations, auger cast piles, driven wood, steel, and concrete piles, and drilled concrete piers. John has 30 years of experience designing wood, steel, masonry, cast in place, tilt up and precast concrete, and ICF alternative foundation/concrete wall systems. He has participated in numerous coastal construction projects in Mexico, Central America, and the Bahamas over the last fifteen years. John’s experience with vintage building and material types evolved over Colorado's 125-year history has facilitated cognizant assessments of building's structural capabilities when record information has been lost. His tenure has transcended numerous code adaptations and jurisdictional evolutions strengthening his capacity for assessment of existing structures.
